A Restful Night – GCS and Night Therapy
A Restful Night – GCS and Night Therapy
One of the many situations experienced by those under our care is sleep disturbance. Especially during these long winters, many of our elderly face challenges when it comes to proper sleeping habits. It is common that patients with Alzheimer’s Disease find difficulty in obtaining proper rest and sleep. Their normal sleep patterns become disrupted, their regular hours are changed, and their ability to recover and relax is greatly diminished. This is something that we seek to improve here at GCS.
With lots of study and research, I have found that there are several ways wherein we can help our elderly when it comes to their sleep issues. Many experience insomnia, sleep apnea, regular leg movement, and other sleep disorders. We employ careful strategies to observe these irregularities and along with habitual consultation with other family users, we recommend several strategies to assist in recovering and maintaining proper sleep periods.
Using studies in NITE-AD Therapy (Nighttime Insomnia Treatment and Education for Alzheimer’s Disease), we approach our elderly with care and concern along with measured approaches to assist them in these issues. Proper sleep hygiene education helps in preparing the body for a calm and restful sleep period. Regular light exercises create avenues for body-strengthening and movement. There are also light-exposure activities to help restore regular sleep patterns and circadian rhythms; which is the period of time your body is used to sleeping and waking. All of these contribute to a healthier and more restful sleep that is essential for a positive and relaxed overall behavior.
Our care is holistic, we strive to make sure that all aspects of the body and mind are in proper and positive condition. This way, we uplift the lives of those udnder our care and improve the quality of their daily experiences.
