Watch the video below to find out more:

1. PATIENCE
If she can stay calm at any given situation – no matter how stressful, then it’s definitely a good start. Reuser, you need someone who will not snap nor lose their composure while taking care of your loved ones.

2. ATTENTIVENESS
If she knows whether the seniors in her care are upset or happy, then she is rightfully attuned to their needs. One of the key characteristics of a great caregiver is her ability to listen. Make sure that the person you’re going to choose is someone who knows how to listen with more than their ears.

3. PROFESSIONALISM
When the carer that you chose does not let her personal life interfere with her duties, then she has one of the much-needed qualities of a caregiver.

A truly professional carer is always on time and arrives ready to tackle her duties.

4. COMMUNICATION SKILLS
When your loved one is suffering from dementia, what she needs is someone who can communicate well.

She has to know how to explain things in simple terms. Maintaining eye contact and understanding body language are also keys in being an excellent communicator.

5. EMPATHY
Nothing beats compassion in a caregiver. This should be the first quality you should look for in someone who will be taking care of the senior in your family.

When your caregiver is empathetic, she’ll ideally have a calming effect. Your loved ones would find her presence soothing. Compassion also allows the carer to easily get the trust of the ones she’s caring for which would make their working relationship smoother and easier.
